The Department of Commerce and Economics at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, under the leadership of Dr. Amandeep Heera (Principal) and Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HoD), organized an inspirational session through the screening of a short film titled ‘PLUS MINUS’ on January 27, 2025.

The short film, Plus Minus, is directed by Jyoti Kapur Das and starring Bhuvan Bam and Divya Dutta. The purpose of this screening was to inspire students by showcasing the film’s themes of self-reflection, emotional growth, and the impact of human interactions.

The screening was aimed to:

  • Encourage students to reflect on their life choices—whether they add (“Plus”) or subtract (“Minus”) value to their experiences.

  • Introduce students to meaningful storytelling and short films as a medium of artistic and social expression.

  • Highlight the significance of sacrifice, duty, and emotional healing, as portrayed in the film.

‘Plus Minus’ follows a conversation between two strangers on a train journey. The story is inspired by the legend Captain Baba Harbhajan Singh, a soldier from the Indian Army who is believed to continue “serving” after his death in 1968. Through their discussion, the film explores themes of loss, emotional burdens, and the importance of making positive choices in the life.

The screening of Plus Minus proved to be a thought-provoking experience for students. It emphasized the importance of perspective, human connections, and self-improvement. The film successfully conveyed that small moments and conversations can have a lasting impact, making it a valuable addition to the students’ learning journey.
